Smarter Students
The C2 National Student Advisory Board
C2 is looking for youth leaders.
With our services geared toward students, it's only fitting that we look to our youth to help us steer our goals and priorities. Once established, the C2 National Student Advisory Board will serve as a think tank made up of student leaders charged with informing our ongoing program development efforts and communication strategies. Even more important, we're asking our youth advisors to play a vital role in guiding C2's service-learning initiatives.
C2 believes that a smart education goes beyond textbook learning and classroom dynamics. We strive to provide opportunities for youth empowerment, where students are taking the lead in making their communities and the world at large better places. As a demonstration of our commitment to our youth and their future, as well as our faith in their potential to lead, we're asking for students to step forward and take part in this unique opportunity.
C2 National Student Advisory Board will be comprised of 12 members, six high school juniors and six high school seniors. For each grade level, we're looking for a balanced and diverse group of young men and women. Each member is elected to a two-year term beginning with the junior year. The exception to this is the first cohort of seniors who will be able to serve only a one-year term.
All student advisors will be given an orientation and training at the beginning of their term. Following the first year of board formation, each new junior student advisor will be paired with a senior student advisor who will be able to provide peer mentoring through the year. Students will be expected to serve as representatives of their C2 region, participating in quarterly video conference calls at a C2 center as well as more regular communications with C2 headquarters. Students will be invited to join their peers and other stakeholders at our annual corporate meeting in Atlanta, Georgia.
Students will advise C2 in matters of program development, communication strategies and service-learning initiatives. They will engage in strategic thinking with C2 leadership to establish best practices and explore creative solutions. Semi-finalists will be interviewed by a regional C2 director. Finalists will need to complete a phone interview with C2 executive staff. Student advisors will receive a $1,000 stipend for each year they serve on the board. Travel and accommodations for visits to C2 headquarters will be paid by C2.

- Applicants must be registered for at least 50 hours of tutoring at a C2 center.
- A personal essay describing leadership experiences outside of school and explaining why you should be selected for board membership.
